Greetings Investors!
We hope you are all having a great start to the summer, planning vacations and time to enjoy the fruits of your investments. But we also know the dark side of the summer means that we are back in hurricane season. Our previous post discussed how it is still possible to claim losses to your properties from Hurricane Irma…3 years ago! Time flies!
So we thought it would be a good idea to talk about being proactive in this post. To prepare to make any necessary claims should another storm hit this year it is crucial to make sure you have current photographic evidence of the condition of your properties. This will ensure that if you need to make a claim it will be much easier to get your money from the insurance companies.
We talked about the importance of using a public adjuster and often an attorney in cases where insurance companies do not want to pay you what you should be due. The only downside is that these professional do retain of portion of your proceeds as a fee for their services. This can amount to thousands of dollars if your losses are significant, which they usually are if there is a major storm. If you are able to show the insurance company that you have evidence they may be willing to just be fair when you first make your claim.
Make sure that your photos are thorough and detail each of the most important and valuable aspects of your property in addition to all ceilings, walls and of course appliances. To cover the average property we are talking in the range of 20-50 photos. You can also hire someone to do this for you but a regular photographer will not have the experience with property to know which parts of the property to focus on. As a full time Property Management company Real Property Management Miami is your best bet for properly inspecting your property. We will not only take the pictures you need but we will notice things that even you might miss. If you are interesting in a full inspection of your property that includes photos you can use for future insurance claims, give us a call at 305-517-3900! Or email us at [email protected].
Happy Summer!
